Forest Edge Farm is a 10 acre food forest and farm, located where the Olympic Mountains meet the Puget Sound, in Mason County, WA.
We practice regenerative agriculture, working in partnership with existing natural systems to build healthy soil, maintain biodiversity, and minimize our use of extractive resources. We do not use synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.
Our farm is queer women, veteran owned and managed. We are passionate about nutritious & delicious eating, land stewardship, and supporting equitable access to healthy food.
What We Offer
Eggs
A dozen rainbow, free-range eggs is a beautiful sight - almost pretty as our gals themselves! We tend to our flock like members of the family. Our chickens have supervised free range pasture time each day, with a wide variety of plants and fruits to graze and gobble, along with a great view of the South Sound. They are fed an all organic feed diet, supplemented with the organic goods they encounter on their adventures - we do not use pesticides on the property. We keep at least one rooster in the flock for added security from overhead eagles and hawks. When the flock is not out adventuring, they are hanging out in their secured playground which has over 35 sq ft of fun per bird.
Free range farm eggs currently available for pickup, in Hoodsport, WA. If you’re located in Union, Lacey, Tumwater or Olympia, we can also arrange a drop off.
You can shop now for eggs and learn more about our chickens & our eggs on this website or by contacting us at hello@forestedge.farm .
Mushrooms
Mycelium is magical, and we love to see it thrive in our PNW forests. We grow culinary, forest cultivated mushrooms to elevate your dinner plate and your health. We minimize external inputs and disturbance to the healthy, mature forest by harvesting alder trees nearing the end of their life cycle for logs, and keeping inoculated logs hydrated by placing them in naturally wet areas under the shaded forest canopy. Mushroom logs take up to two years to begin producing, and need to be closely monitored for signs of sprouting, as they need to be hand picked swiftly after emerging in order to maintain freshness.
We are currently growing 4 varieties of oyster mushrooms on logs as well as wine cap mushrooms on wood chip beds.
Choose them fresh or dehydrated - price varies per product and availability.
You can shop now or pre-order your mushrooms as we are a small operation with a limited supply.

Tea
To drink tea is to give your body a healing hug from the inside out. We are growing our tea gardens and sustainably harvesting medicinal plants from our food forest to create gourmet tea blends for a morning pick-me-up, a soothing upgrade to your nighttime routine, or simply to indulge in your next rainy day desires.
We are currently growing camellia sinensis (green tea), mint, lemon balm, lavender, and roses and tending to forest patches of nettle, turkey tail mushrooms, wood sorrel, cleaver, licorice ferns, black berries and huckleberries, and more to create unique, healing, and delicious tea blends.
